We work with communities to understand their needs and work with our Skilled Business Volunteers to match them to projects, that bring the right skills at the right time to help deliver outcomes.
About the opportunity
Primary Purpose of the Position
Wide Bay Kids Community Inc., a rapidly growing Bundaberg-based not-for-profit, supports families, children and young people through programs, information and community events that foster wellbeing, inclusion and resilience. With a strong track record in place-based projects and partnerships across schools, councils and health services, the organisation is seeking external expertise to strengthen governance, identify opportunities and gaps and co-develop a strategic plan for long-term sustainability. Key priorities include Board development, succession planning, embedding organisational values and exploring new funding opportunities to secure Wide Bay Kids’ ongoing impact in the community.
The tasks and deliverables of this Assignment are:
• Invest time in understanding the organisation’s leadership team, their vision, challenges and their community
• Conduct a needs assessment and facilitate discussions to identify priorities and risks
• Develop a draft Strategic Plan (2026-2028) and see it through to finalise it
• Make recommendations relating to governance or operations (e.g., Board Skills Matrix, Succession Plan, Values Alignment Framework)
• Implement an inclusion and equity lens across the organisation
Selection Criteria:
Essential
• Demonstrated experience in governance, strategy, and organisational development.
• Strong facilitation skills in working with boards and community-based organisations.
• Ability to provide practical, actionable advice in an online setting.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Collaborative, respectful, and community-led approach.
Desirable
• A background in health and/or disaster management

- 5 years professional experience in the relevant field
- Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident residing in Australia. Australian citizens residing overseas may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
