Summary:
Guide the Association’s finances. Maintain transparency and good financial management. Ensure we meet reporting and compliance obligations. The Association uses Xero for all accounting. You have significant input into how we do things.
Detail:
Oversee income and expenditure. Make sure payments are properly approved, accurate records are kept.
Monitor our financial position, highlight risks, ensure compliance with our obligations as a not-for-profit organisation. Required by NSW Fair Trading, eventually the ACNC.
The Treasurer prepares a simple monthly financial report. After the AGM, s/he lodges the Annual Summary of Financial Affairs with Fair Trading. Working with bookkeeper, prepare annual statements for members, develop the yearly budget with the Committee, provide advice for grants, sponsorships, and fundraising.
Support the integration of our accounting software with other systems as needed. As we transition to charity status, the Treasurer will meet ACNC governance and reporting standards, ensuring our systems and policies remain compliant.
Ideally, experience with accounting or bookkeeping, understands financial management for incorporated associations or charities, can explain figures clearly to non-financial people.
