Calling All Sewing Enthusiasts! 🧵🪡

We're looking for someone who enjoys sewing and wants to use their skills (and their own sewing machine) to make a meaningful impact by helping us freshen up some of our much-loved equipment with new synthetic leather and fabric covers.

About MND Queensland: MND Queensland is a leading organisation wholly focused on supporting people living with Motor Neurone Disease and their families, friends, and carers. We offer understanding and practical assistance by delivering information, education and specialist support services.

About the volunteer role: Your beautiful handiwork will directly support people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). By keeping our equipment clean, safe, and comfortable, you’ll help ensure it can continue to be loaned out to Queenslanders in need. Nearly half of the equipment MND Queensland provides is offered completely free of charge to those over 65 - so your sewing skills will be part of something truly life-changing.

As the Volunteer Sewing Assistant you will be:

• Sewing various synthetic leather and fabric covers for equipment used by Queenslanders living with MND
• Measuring, sewing and fitting finished products against MND Queensland equipment
• Picking up materials and dropping off finished products to MND Queensland HQ in Oxley
• Maintaining good communication with the equipment team to ensure timely handovers of products

About you:

• Have access to your own sewing machine that can sew synthetic leather
• Confident using a sewing machine and measuring/working with synthetic leather and fabric
• Friendly, down-to-earth attitude
• Reliable and able to make products within advised timeframes
• Passion for helping others and making a difference
