Volunteer Counsellor
4 Voices’ mission is to support women who are or may be at risk of social isolation, family and domestic violence, or homelessness. We help women reconnect by providing social, digital, community, and employment support, especially for those facing barriers such as fear, shame, low English, or limited access to technology.
4 Voices Volunteer Counsellor is part of a team that provides our Volunteer Assistance Program to support our volunteers who are working directly with women in crisis. This role includes:
- Supporting volunteers to deal with their emotional responses to issues they are exposed to in their roles as volunteers
- Connecting volunteers with services and information that may support them
- Being an escalation point to discuss sensitive issues or challenges for volunteers
- Keeping accurate and brief records
- Following up with volunteers on issues as they occur
We are looking for the following:
- Trained counsellor in mental health
- Experience with supporting people who have had exposure to mental health, domestic violence, homelessness or other crisis
- Passion to make a difference for women in crisis
- Able to commit to up to 5 hours per week for 6 months or more
