Become a Book Nook Volunteer with Vinnies South Coast

St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/ Goulburn

About Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn and Our Shops: The St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn (Vinnies) has been serving the local community for over 100 years. We are committed to offering a ‘hand up’ to people experiencing hardship through practical assistance, advocacy and compassion. Our network of Vinnies Shops is a vital part of our mission. The shops provide high-quality, affordable goods to the community, reduce landfill by reusing and recycling and generate essential funds to support our local programs — including homelessness services, food assistance and emergency relief. Every role in our shops, from sorting donations to serving customers, makes a real difference in people’s lives.

About the Role: Vinnies South Coast Centres are on the lookout for book buffs like you to help us sort and price books while keeping our shelves looking amazing! Whether you’re a genre-sorting genius, a master of tidy displays or just someone who loves books and giving back - we want you on the team!

Key Tasks:

  • Review donated books for quality and relevance.
  • Organise books by genre, age group and condition.
  • Price books according to Vinnies guidelines.
  • Help keep book display areas neat and inviting.

We’ve got the novels, we just need the network! If you’ve got a few hours to spare and a passion for reading, come and help write the Vinnies story!
