He served the country, volunteered until he was 100 years old and now he would like someone to talk to.
We are looking for a compassionate volunteer with an interest in military history to share a cuppa and a few chats with a Darwin War Veteran.

Main Tasks:

Companionship: spend time visiting and offering a friendly conversation.

Active listening: offer a listening ear and be someone people can talk to, whether they need to share their thoughts, memories, or just feel heard.

Engagement: depending on the individual’s interests, you may read to them, watch movies together, share stories, or even assist with light activities like puzzles or crafts.

Person centred support: provide effective, person centred support in a way that is socially, emotionally and physically safe and respectful for older people and their families. The support offered is irrespective of the person's identity, culture, ability, diversity, beliefs and life experiences.
