Neurological Peer Support Group Facilitator - NeuFriends Coffee Club

Neurological Council of WA

Logo for Neurological Council of WA

Our peer support groups safely connect people within a supportive, enjoyable and relaxed environment, empowering participants to take control of their health and wellbeing by sharing experiences; increasing knowledge and health literacy; learning how to self-manage the condition or symptoms, finding new coping strategies and getting practical advice, support and encouragement to access services.

Equally important, peer support improves social and psychological wellbeing and overall quality of life as a result of genuine social connection, reduced isolation, forming new friendships, and feelings of acceptance, comfort and hope in the stories of others.

We're looking for positive, supportive and committed Peer Support Group Leaders to help establish and run peer support groups across metropolitan and regional WA. In your application please specify the location you are interested in.

We'd love to hear from you if you have lived experience having, or caring for people with neurological conditions/symptoms, and can commit to organising, attending, setting up and facilitating a monthly peer-led support group in line with an established framework. We also welcome applicants with skills and experience in neuro or health sciences, allied health or support groups or event coordination.

Volunteers will receive training and ongoing supervision, support and debriefing, both individually and as a volunteer group. These are very impactful and rewarding roles and you'll be making a difference by helping us to help others.
