Treasurer (Pro Bono)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Oversee all financial high-level matters including viability, strategy, budgeting, accounting, and reviewing and improving financial reporting and bookkeeping practices. • Ensure the Bookkeeper/accounting coordinator, maintains accurate financial records and ensure proper bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations and tracking income/expenditure are being carried out, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making. • Oversee the bookkeeper/accounting coordinator’s preparation and presentation of the financial reports to the board at meetings and AGM’s. • Advise the board on financial strategy, risks, and funding opportunities. • Work with the Company Secretary and Public Officer, on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timely submission of financial reports to the various regulatory bodies. • Support fundraising activities by providing advice on financial aspects of grant applications, fundraising campaigns, impact investing, philanthropy and sponsorships. • Safeguarding assets: Implement and maintain internal controls to protect the Trust’s financial assets by managing and mitigating risk. • Preparing and monitoring budgets: Work with the bookkeeper/accounting coordinator and board to create the annual budget, track financial performance against the budget, and flag any issues or variances throughout the year.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist executive team and Board directors with financial guidance related to the activities of the Trust and financial responsibilities which may include workshops and professional development. • Board Engagement & Education: Ensure that all board members understand the organisation’s financial position and key issues, fostering informed discussion and collective decision-making. • Participate actively in board meetings and drive strategic financial planning with office bearers and executive.
