Active Minds After School Club Volunteer - Support Primary School Students
Make a difference in children's education by joining our Active Minds after school club as a volunteer. Help young students build confidence in their learning through reading, homework support, creative activities and games.
Time Commitment:
- Tuesdays 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM during school terms
- Location: Soldiers Settlement School (this club is run by JNC for students at the school)
- Meeting points: JNC Maroubra Centre (to travel to/from the club with the team) or at the school
What You'll Do:
- Support students in grades 1-4 with their homework
- Listen to children read and encourage reading skills
- Play games that reinforce learning
- Facilitate creative activities
- Create a positive, encouraging learning environment
- Work alongside other volunteers and staff
Perfect For:
- University students (especially Education/Teaching)
- People with experience working with children
- Those interested in education and youth development
- Anyone available during after-school hours
- Individuals who enjoy making learning fun
Requirements:
- Patient and encouraging nature
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to engage with primary school-aged children
- Working With Children Check (we can assist with this)
- Reliable weekly commitment during school terms
- free Police check conducted by JNC
