Active Minds After School Club Volunteer - Support Primary School Students

Make a difference in children's education by joining our Active Minds after school club as a volunteer. Help young students build confidence in their learning through reading, homework support, creative activities and games.

Time Commitment:

• Tuesdays 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM during school terms
• Location: Soldiers Settlement School (this club is run by JNC for students at the school)
• Meeting points: JNC Maroubra Centre (to travel to/from the club with the team) or at the school

What You'll Do:

• Support students in grades 1-4 with their homework
• Listen to children read and encourage reading skills
• Play games that reinforce learning
• Facilitate creative activities
• Create a positive, encouraging learning environment
• Work alongside other volunteers and staff

Perfect For:

• University students (especially Education/Teaching)
• People with experience working with children
• Those interested in education and youth development
• Anyone available during after-school hours
• Individuals who enjoy making learning fun

Requirements:

• Patient and encouraging nature
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Ability to engage with primary school-aged children
• Working With Children Check (we can assist with this)
• Reliable weekly commitment during school terms
• free Police check conducted by JNC
