Gardening Volunteer

Vinnies Connect

Jim da Silva Farm is a disability accommodation and community inclusion initiative of St Vincent de Paul Society of NSW. Jim da Silva Farm, based in Mundamia NSW, is a space where people can connect, learn, participate in activities and workshops, and access a wide range of supports. Our work aims to provide opportunities for community inclusion and support for those who need it. Our facility includes a community garden, in which members can plant and maintain a variety of plants with focus on natives, vegetables, fruits and herbs. We are seeking volunteers to be responsible for:

• Planting, watering, and maintaining our beautiful gardens and landscapes

• Assist with the upkeep of our native plant habitats

• Maintaining and growing vegetation in the greenhouse

• Help create and maintain sustainable gardening practices

• Harvesting of fruit and vegetables

• Weeding garden beds and pruning trees, shrubs and bushes

• Preparing garden sites using hand tools

• Assist with garden bed construction and maintenance

• Planting/transplanting seeds, bulbs, flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns

• Erecting barriers, fences or structures and signs
