Driver Volunteer - Parramatta Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels requires a volunteer with availability 8:30am - approx. 11am

Meals on Wheels have volunteers who deliver meals to older people and people with disabilities living in the Parramatta LGA on week day mornings. Drivers are responsible for driving to our Hunter Street office then to customers homes with a helper.

Essential qualifications:

  1. Valid Drivers License
  2. Access to a comprehensively insured motor vehicle
  3. Able to volunteer from 8:30am onwards
  4. Reliable with flexible availability
  5. Physically mobile and able to carry 5-10 kilograms using a trolley
  6. Able to commit for a period of time, for example, minimum 6 months.
  7. Able to work in partnership with your helper
  8. Respectful with paid staff, volunteers and the people you are delivering to.

Desirable skills, attributes, qualifications:

  1. Friendly and enjoy talking with staff, volunteers and clients
  2. Experience dealing with older people and people with disabilities
  3. Experience dealing with difficult people

ABOUT US: Meals on Wheels is totally committed to protecting the health and wellbeing of our customers, employees, partners and the community. We are closely monitoring the communications from the Department of Health and have implemented precautionary measures to minimise the risk of COVID-19 infiltrating our high-risk Meals on Wheels aged-care community. City of Parramatta Community Care Team provides services for older people, adults living with a disability and carers of these people. Our team of 75 Volunteers are vital to our services. Volunteers are supported with training, travel reimbursements, and ongoing supervision and support. There are opportunities to socialise with other volunteers throughout the year and be a part of a valued team. If you are reliable and have a passion for helping your community, we'd love you to consider joining our team of volunteers. All volunteers must undergo a criminal record check, a NDIS Worker Screen and provide 2 referees.
