Special Olympics Australia is currently seeking a softball coordinator who can provide leadership and support in the planning and delivery of our softball competitions for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Western Australia that are taking place throughout the year. This includes our local and State Games softball competitions.

The position’s objective is to lead the planning and delivery of consistent softball events in Western Australia, supporting coaches and assistants, delivering pathway competitions and events, and reporting to Special Olympics Western Australia to ensure our offerings continue to support our vision and mission.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and delivery of local sport-specific competitions
• Support the delivery of our State Games sport-specific competition
• Engage and support coaches, assistants, volunteers and clubs to delivery consistency and quality training for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
• Provide first aid and risk management support at events and competitions
• Record attendance and compile stakeholder feedback to report back to Special Olympics Australia
• Engage positively with athletes, parents, stakeholders, and staff
• Monitor and provide feedback on our athletes’ skill development to support selection into Special Olympics Australia sanctioned events
• Support athletes in representing Special Olympics at community sanctioned events
• Provide a supporting environment that encourages athletes to achieve their personal best
