About Us:

Established in 1982, Alzheimer’s WA provides care, support, awareness and information to assist people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers.

Our services include advocacy, education, partnerships, training, consultancy and holistic person-centred care programs, based on a philosophy of understanding the lived experiences of those living with dementia. We provide CHSP, HCP and NDIS packages and day/overnight respite in our four homes based in Perth, Mandurah and Albany.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer to join our team at our aged care respite house. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by providing administrative support, organizing client activities, and driving vehicles filled with clients to various activities. Your contribution will create a supportive and engaging environment for our residents.

Main Duties:

provide administrative support and general office tasks (answering phone calls, taking messages, filing, data entry, and maintaining records) to the respite house staff;

facilitate engaging activities for our clients

assist with group activities such as arts and crafts, games, or music sessions;

encourage social interaction and participation among clients;

assist clients with mobility and personal needs during activities;

transport clients to and from various activities using organisation-provided vehicles;

assist clients with boarding and exiting the vehicle and ensure the safety and comfort of clients during transportation at all times; and

ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Requirements:

Genuine passion for working with elderly individuals and providing them with support

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions

Reliable and punctual

WA C class driver’s licence;

Passport or driver’s licence (identity verification only);

NDIS Worker Screening Check; and

COVID Vaccination (three doses).

Hours:

We're looking for support between 9am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

You will have the chance to meet new people and build new relationships while being a part of a supportive and friendly team. We welcome candidates who are willing to learn and participate in training and development and who have a basic understanding of work health and safety in the workplace.
