The Organisation: Inner West Neighbour Aid is a vibrant not for profit with an amazing sense of community spirit. Established for over 30 years, providing garden support, social outings, workshops, exercise classes, intergenerational connections, centre based groups and help around the home for seniors living in the local government areas of Ashfield, Burwood, Canada Bay and Strathfield. Neighbour Aid also maintains the 5 Senses Garden in Rhodes Park, Concord West in partnership with the City of Canada Bay Council. The organisation is primarily funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and other grants. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS who love the outdoors and want to make a difference in the community. You will be in the garden with other volunteers and guided by a staff member who is a qualified horticulturalist. Your role is to help tidy up gardens, weeding, pruning, sweeping and mulching. We bring gardens back to a stage where they are attractive, can be enjoyed safely and are easy care for seniors who have limited support from family and friends and can no longer garden themselves.
Commitment: Volunteering is about flexibility and passion. Select the days that suit you. • Gardening at seniors’ homes Monday to Friday from 8.30am – 12.30pm • Working bee at the 5 Senses Garden, Rhodes Park every 2nd Wednesday 9am – 12.30pm Requirements: • No gardening experience necessary.
