About the opportunity

Primary Purpose of the Position

In light of the devastating bushfires of 2019-20, ongoing natural hazards, climate change and the drive away from fossil fuel, this community-driven initiative on the South Coast of NSW is seeking to engage a number of renewable energy projects (microgrids, solar farms, community-owned batteries, etc). This is part of building the resilience of communities in the face of risk factors that escalate to devastating disasters. Southcoast Health and Sustainability Alliance (SHASA) is driven by a small group of local community members who seek to take on projects that address climate change and community resilience in the face of this challenge. In partnership with a number of state-wide and nationwide organisations, they are forging ahead with these projects.

Tasks: • Thoroughly review all current and pending project documentation relating to SHASA’s renewable energy initiative • In collaboration with the community partner, collate and convert high-level information into an implementation framework. • Specifically, draw up implementation documentation modelled on the requirements for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s Community Batteries Funding’s future funding rounds (the current round closes 30 June 2023, but there will be other rounds)

Selection Criteria: An engineering background with specific knowledge and experience of the renewable energy sector.
