Volunteer Transport to Treatment Driver

  • The CCNT Transport to Treatment (T2T) program began in 2018 with sponsorship from Darwin International Airport and the Dry July Foundation.
  • Volunteers will transport cancer patients from home (Darwin and rural areas) to the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre, Royal Darwin and Palmerston hospitals, and medical specialist appointments.
  • The program runs Monday to Friday and is fully staffed by volunteer drivers.
  • You will liaise closely with the Support Services Coordinator concerning your availability and scheduling.

This selection criteria outlines the skills, experiences and behaviours that are necessary to successfully carry out the voluntary role.

  • Have well-developed communication skills, including the ability to listen, display empathy and demonstrate consideration to client’s needs.
  • Well-developed organisational skills.
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Confident in communication technology including mobile phone and email.
  • Confidence using Google maps or equivalent desirable.
  • Previous volunteering experience desirable.

Essential

  • NT Drivers Licence
  • Undertake a National Police Check and hold a current Working with Children (Ochre) Card.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, given the nature of the work, and provide vaccination certificates.
