Audit and Risk Committee Independent Volunteer Member

City of Nedlands Volunteer Program

The City of Nedlands is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals for the appointment of an independent volunteer member to Council's Audit and Risk Committee.

The Audit and Risk Committee is a source of independent advice to the Council and the CEO on finance, governance, risk and audit related matters.  

The committee is a statutory committee established under Regulation 16 of the Local Government (Audit) regulations 1995 and operates in accordance with its adopted Terms of Reference.

The committee meets at least 4 times each year and you will assist with the following tasks-

  • Guiding and assisting the local government in carrying out the local government’s functions in relation to particular audits
  • Reviewing the Audit Plan prior to the conduct of the interim audit each year
  • Reviewing audit reports and make appropriate recommendations to the council
  • Ensuring that the councils financial affairs, systems and processes meet statutory requirements and Australian Accounting Standards
  • Assisting with reviewing the councils risk management to ensure appropriate controls and processes are in operation
  • Consider management of risks that impact on the City
  • Other related tasks
