Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit, community-based volunteer organisation working throughout South Australia. Since 1954, we have assisted many people in the community to live independently in their own homes by providing meals for up to 7 days. Delivering hot, delicious, nutritious 3 course meals on week-days and frozen meals for weekends, public holidays and other times when clients may need to be away from home. Our clients include those who cannot cook or shop for themselves with ease, such as older people, people with a disability, carers or those recovering from an illness or injury.

Roles/Responsibilities: ~ Welcome and induct new branch volunteers ~ Train and support new volunteers ~ Ensure all new volunteers have completed required application process ~ Organise and collate volunteer rosters ~ Liaise with Central Office to maintain updated volunteer personal details and service records on the central volunteer database ~ Arrange distribution of service awards (organised by Central Office) for volunteers who qualify ~ Promote MoWSA volunteering opportunities in the community (where appropriate).

Time commitment: ~ 6-7 hours per week over a 12 month period

Skills/Qualifications/Requirements: ~ Effective computer skills, or willingness to learn ~ Good interpersonal and communication skills ~ Ability to relate to and instruct a large cross-section of volunteers ~ Confidence in dealing with volunteer issues with a high degree of confidentiality. In doing so, seek appropriate support in accordance with MoWSA policies and procedures. ~ Attend branch meetings including the AGM. Provide a general report summarising volunteer activity and feedback ~ Attend conferences, workshops and training arranged by Central Office ~ Current Police Clearance (Meals On Wheels are authorised to conduct Crimtrac police checks for volunteers who require this service) ~ Evidence of Covid Vaccination Status (3 doses)
