Nest Box Monitoring program Assistant

Responsibilities: Assist our group's Nestbox monitoring project for various Birds and arboreal species within the Lagoon creek environmental reserve.

Help us to work through the test phase of our project by assisting us with:

Implementation and relocating of boxes. Working at heights desirable - use of ladders and wearing a harness mandatory Recording initial data of boxes and box locations. Nest Box Inspections (Conduct regular visits to designated locations using maps GPS and trialing survey data sheets. Monitor and inspect nest boxes installed for various bird and mammal species. Monitoring might involve visual inspection and using camera technology) Data Collection: Record accurate and detailed observations of nesting activities, species identification, and any other relevant ecological information. Evaluate and report on the suitability of the survey methodology, identifying potential improvements or modifications.

Data Entry and Analysis: Assist in entering collected data into Excel and Biocollect, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Collaborate with other volunteers and project leaders to share findings, exchange knowledge, and help assist in the development of data collection and monitoring strategies.

Passion for Conservation: Demonstrated interest in environmental conservation and a genuine commitment to preserving native wildlife and their habitats.

Physical Fitness: Capability to walk for extended periods in outdoor environments, potentially carrying light monitoring equipment.

Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills and the ability to accurately record and document relevant data using computer software and other tools.

Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with other volunteers and project leaders in a positive and supportive manner. Knowledge and Experience: While no specific qualifications are required, previous experience in wildlife monitoring, ecology, or related fields will be highly regarded.

Hands-On Experience: Gain practical knowledge in nest box monitoring techniques and habitat conservation practices. Wildlife Encounters: Enjoy the opportunity to observe and learn about various bird and mammal species in their natural habitats.
