Inclusion Foundation runs a program called emotion21, that provides innovative dance and fitness programs to children and young adults with Down syndrome, in a supportive and social environment that meets their specific learning needs. emotion21 is also committed to changing the perceptions of people with Down syndrome by way of local performances and community involvement.

We are currently in need of volunteers at some of our dance studios to provide support to our participants and assist our teachers in our weekly evening dance classes. This is for 1-2 hours per week, during school terms.

The role of our "Mover" volunteers is to help our dancers fully participate in their classes by:

• role modelling what the dance teacher’s movement’s and instructions are
• role modelling supportive and encouraging social behaviours
• engaging and interacting with the participants to keep them engaged in the class activity
• no dance experience/training necessary - just a positive attitude and willingness to learn and have a go!

We will provide full training on the learning strengths of people with Down syndrome so that all volunteers feel confident of their role and are ready to make a contribution in classes.

Volunteering with emotion21 will enable you to support young people with Down syndrome and their families in your home community. Everyone has different skills and interests but there is definitely a role YOU can play in the ongoing development and success of emotion21.

All volunteers need to have a current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check - we can assist you with the application process for these.
