Position Overview:

The TEDx Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, organisation, and execution of the TEDxHobart annual event. This role requires a highly organized individual with excellent leadership skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for spreading innovative ideas. The TEDx Director will work closely with the Licensee and Head of Curation, event team, speakers, sponsors, and the wider community to ensure the success of the TEDx event.

This role will oversee the activity of the Head of Partnerships, Head of Events, Head of Marketing and work alongside the Head of Curation & Licensee, and Head of Speaker Coaching.

NOTE: this is a fully volunteer position. All positions are 100 percent volunteer.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans for TEDxHobart in alignment with the overall TEDxHobart, and TEDx mission, brand and rules.

• Manage the TEDx event team and work collaboratively with everyone to ensure that all aspects of the event are well-planned and executed.

• Work with Head of Curation and Curation Advisory Committee on speaker selection and training.

• Working alongside the Head of Partnerships, develop and manage relationships with sponsors/partners and community partners to secure funding and support for TEDx events.

• Oversee all logistical aspects of the event, including venue selection, technical requirements, and event promotion.

• Ensure that all TEDx events are aligned with the TEDxHobart brand and adhere to TEDx guidelines and rules.

• Provide ongoing support and guidance to the event team, speakers, and volunteers to ensure that they are equipped to deliver a high-quality event.

Experience:

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A passion for TEDx's mission and a deep understanding of the TEDx brand.
• Experience working with volunteers and community partners.
