Fishcare Victoria (Head Office)
Logo for Fishcare Victoria (Head Office)

Fishcare Victoria is a dynamic not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating community, school, and disability groups about responsible and sustainable fishing practices in an interactive and engaging manner. Established in 1995, we operate across five regions, including Geelong & Bellarine, Melbourne & Westernport (Melbourne), East Gippsland (Lakes Entrance), Central Highlands (Ballarat), and the Southwest (Warrnambool).

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to shape the sustainable future of recreational fishing in Victoria through education, hands-on experiences, effective communication, and active community participation.

At Fishcare Victoria, our Education Officer roles provide individuals with incredible opportunities. These positions offer valuable work experience for students and job seekers, as well as social interactions with like-minded people, networking prospects, comprehensive training, governance skills, a sense of purpose, and a tight-knit community. Moreover, Education Officers have the chance to travel across our beautiful state and share their passion for the most participated in recreational activity and much more. To excel in the Education Officer role, you don't need extensive experience. We are looking for individuals who possess some of the following key attributes:

  • A strong sense of community involvement and dedication.
  • A passion for our local aquatic and adjacent environments.
  • Genuine interest in fishing and its sustainable practices.
  • An open mind, receptive to new ideas and approaches.
  • A commitment to driving positive change in our communities.

If you possess some or all these attributes, you have the potential to become a highly successful volunteer for Fishcare Victoria. We would love to hear from you and welcome your involvement. However, our volunteer opportunities don't end there. We offer a clear path for progression from an Education Officer position to team leadership roles, where you can take on additional responsibilities if desired and build your skill sets. We also occasionally seek committee members who play a vital role in overseeing and improving the operational aspects of our program.

Volunteering for Fishcare creates transformative impacts, changing lives profoundly. Empower parents, foster family bonds, and create lasting memories. Witness the thrill of participants catching their first fish, a life-changing moment. Improve wellbeing through responsible fishing, reducing stress. Build community connections and promote social cohesion. Contribute to environmental stewardship, conserving fish populations and habitats.

By volunteering with Fishcare, you embark on a journey that not only impacts individuals and communities but also holds the potential for self-discovery and meaningful contributions to the world of fishing and beyond.

If this resonates with you and you are interested in joining or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Operations Manager, Mitchell McMaster. You can contact Mitchell at 0448546703 or mmcmaster@fishcarevictoria.org.au

We eagerly anticipate hearing from you and working together to create a sustainable future for recreational fishing in Victoria.
