About the opportunity

Primary Purpose of the Position

Araluen is a small rural town about 2 hour’s drive from Canberra. The village’s well-loved community hall was originally built in 1860, damaged in the bushfires of 2019-20 and restored and reopened in 2023. It is now seeking a new life as an in-demand, income-generating venue for hire. The community would like to ensure it has a secure future, can self-sustain its maintenance cost, and be an economic asset for the community. An clear marketing plan is needed to help advertise this hall space as a venue for hire.

Tasks: • Desk-based research to understand the community and the hall, its locality, physical space, its history, etc • Desk-based research to understand the business potential of this space – potential target demographic, unique selling points, etc • Design a marketing strategy and an implementation plan to position it as a desirable venue for events.

Deliverables: • A marketing strategy and an implementation plan that includes social media, a campaign plan, etc. • Maintain communications with the community representatives so that they understand the thoughtprocess behind the marketing plan and are in agreement with the direction of the plan.

Selection Criteria: Strong commercial marketing experience Experience in tourism and event promotion would be desirable

• 5 years professional experience in the relevant field
• Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident residing in Australia. Australian Citizens residing overseas may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Willingness to complete a National Police Check
• Willingness to complete a Working with Children Check
• Covid 19 Vaccination
