At the heart of the Emerald Museum's success lies a dedicated committee of passionate individuals who help preserve cultural heritage, curate engaging exhibitions, and foster a vibrant community of local history enthusiasts. Now, we are seeking new members to join this dynamic Community Asset Committee for a two-year term and continue the tradition of excellence.

All positions are open, and nominations will be accepted prior to, or on the night of Emerald Museum's Biennial General Meeting (BGM) on Thursday, 13 July 2023.

So, if you have an interest in local history, heritage, or want to make a meaningful contribution to a vital community resource in Cardinia Shire, consider nominating yourself for the Community Asset Committee. No prior experience in museums or heritage is required.

Key activities:

  • Attend bi-monthly committee meetings to discuss organisational activities

  • Guide the direction of the museum's exhibitions, events and programs

  • Participate in a rotating roster during museum opening hours

  • Assist in supporting and fulfilling the activities outlined in the Emerald Museum's Strategic Plan 2023-30

  • Represent the museum at key community events to network and raise awareness

By volunteering as a committee member at the Emerald Museum, you will have the chance to:

  • Learn new skills: Being a committee member offers a wealth of opportunities to gain new knowledge, confidence and expertise, from cataloguing artefacts to greeting guests from around the world

  • Meet new people: As a volunteer, you'll be part of a vibrant community of like-minded individuals who share your love of history and culture

  • Make a difference: By helping to preserve and promote local history, you'll be playing an active role in shaping this vital district resource in Cardinia Shire, as well as the future of the local community
