Joanne recently decided to take a break from full-time work. She always had a love for art and wanted to take some time during this period to explore her interest by studying part time. Joanne enjoyed returning to study, but found herself missing the sense of community that the workplace offered. Although taxing at times, Joanne found that she still missed the sense of purpose and contribution that employment brought.

Alongside her studies, Joanne looked into volunteer opportunities and has now been volunteering at the Uniting AgeWell Chadstone Centre for 4 months. Joanne has enjoyed the opportunity to meet other volunteers and staff and feels the art group she is facilitating brings a lot of joy to the clients attending. Joanne feels valued in her role and looks forward to attending each week. Joanne’s art tutor is impressed that she has sought an opportunity to apply her learnings whilst also making a valuable contribution to her community.

We offer opportunities in skill and knowledge development, as well as ongoing support and mentoring. Good communications skills and the ability to work independently are a must. Having a driver’s licence/access to own vehicle is highly desired but not essential. We value diversity in lived experience, language, skills and abilities.
