At CISC, Community Support Workers are part of a team, working within CISC guidelines, interviewing people who may need assistance. They assess and identify those needs and may provide practical support in the form of emergency relief, information, advocacy, or referrals to other support services. CSWs volunteer on a rostered basis on days agreed between themselves and CISC.

Community Support Workers are required to have completed the accredited training course CHCCCS004 (Assess Co-Existing Needs). The course takes place over 7 weeks: 50 hours in total, with 36 hours online and 14 hours at the agency under the guidance of a CISC mentor. If you have completed Community Services training, or equivalent, you may be eligible to be recognised for prior learning.
