Our first billy cart event was held in Mount Helena in 2018 under the auspices of the Mount Helena Residents and Ratepayers Progress Association. Due to the growing popularity of the event a separate entity Hills Billy Carts Inc. was created in 2021 to organise and conduct the event.

A billy cart event provides outdoor fun for participants and spectators. Within strict safety guidelines participants construct their own billy carts using mostly second hand or recycled materials. Within age and weight classes, billy carts race down the slope of Evans Street in Mount Helena. There is an accompanying community festival and race day theme, for example the last one was Halloween and the next might be Saint Patricks Day.

Much of our event organisation happens online and we need an innovative and experienced volunteer to manage this. Obviously being online most of the work could be done from home but we would also like a progress report or attendance at monthly meetings. We use WordPress for the website.
