The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra.

The Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra is seeking three volunteers to assist on concert nights with ushering patrons entering the auditorium and with serving interval supper and cleaning up after interval. Concerts are held 4 times a year on Saturday evenings in Kew.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Check that each patron seeking entry to the auditorium has a valid ticket and direct them to the correct seats.
  • Sort out any seating or other issues that may arise.
  • Assist with setting up and packing away / cleaning up a light supper (provided by the Orchestra) to be served at interval, together with hot drinks of coffee and tea.

Details:

  • Concerts start at 7:30 pm and finish around 9:30 pm.
  • Volunteers would need to arrive by 6:45 pm, help with setting out supper and from 7 pm take up ushering duties.
  • There is free parking on site.
  • Volunteers would be given seats at the rear of the auditorium free of charge. They could watch most of the first half of the concert after ushering duties but would have to leave just before the end of the first half to ensure everything is ready for the supper. - They would serve tea / coffee and then clean up and pack away the supper after which they could leave or return to their allocated seat to watch most of the second half of the concert.

An appreciation of classical music would be an advantage for the applicant but is not a necessary requirement.
