Assistant[s] to Day Centre Services

Westbury Community Health Centre

Volunteers are welcomed to work within our professional team of Day Centre Co-ordinators, nurses, administration staff, health carers/providers and other volunteers. Volunteers fulfil an important role in our team whilst contributing to the wellbeing of clients and our community. A full orientation program is provided on-site for all volunteers as well as ongoing education to maintain skill levels. Volunteers assist clients in undertaking a range of activities such as art and craft, music therapy, boardgames, woodwork, physical exercise programs, word games, puzzles, reading, and gardening. Clients are also assisted by staff and volunteers to attend special events and group outings. Volunteers assist in providing refreshments and meals for clients attending at the Adult Day Centres. Kitchen duties can be undertaken by volunteers interested in this service and would assist in preparing, heating and serving of meals as well as clean up duties. Volunteers assist clients with transport services to and from our Day Centres and accompany our volunteer drivers. Driving our community vehicle or 12 seater bus is another skill that could be developed with the appropriate training and certification. Volunteers all wear identification whilst on duty and will sign on and off duty also. This is a safety requirement so that it is always evident who is on-site at any given time.
