Peter, a long standing Uniting AgeWell volunteer, has always had a love for animals. Peter has always dreamt of working in wildlife conservation and would love to have a small farm of his own one day. For now, Peter lives in a smaller apartment in centre of Ballarat, hardly the spot to nurture any four legged friends.

Darren was raised in the rolling Hills his family’s dairy farm. Darren's days are spent tending the farm and his animals. Darren has always loved the calm and serenity that this lifestyle has brought but feels that it can be lonely at times.

Peter meets Darren… 6 months ago, Darren reached out to Uniting Agewell social connection program seeking companionship and connection. A perfect match! Volunteer Peter was connected to Darren to meet weekly and the pair spend many an hour on Darren's farm tending to the animals, exploring the gardens and sharing conversation. They have also joined a local wildlife conversation group together where they have connected with other likeminded people.
