Walking Companion Volunteer for an elderly resident in ANZAC Village, Narrabeen
RSL LifeCareThe role of the Walking Companion Volunteer is vital in creating a sense of wellbeing, connection and community, as well as promoting independence for an elderly resident and our seniors. Volunteer will provide social support and companionship to a resident during the weekly walks around the village and to a local café.
Main Tasks:
- Regularly visit the allocated resident, talk to them and build relationship with them
- Provide social support and companionship during the walks around the village
Personal Qualities:
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to make connections with people from different backgrounds
- Be reliable, flexible and committed
- Have patience, kindness and empathy for mature aged people
- A desire to make a positive difference in someone's life
