Walking Companion Volunteer for an elderly resident in ANZAC Village, Narrabeen

The role of the Walking Companion Volunteer is vital in creating a sense of wellbeing, connection and community, as well as promoting independence for an elderly resident and our seniors. Volunteer will provide social support and companionship to a resident during the weekly walks around the village and to a local café.

Main Tasks:

  • Regularly visit the allocated resident, talk to them and build relationship with them
  • Provide social support and companionship during the walks around the village

Personal Qualities:

  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to make connections with people from different backgrounds
  • Be reliable, flexible and committed
  • Have patience, kindness and empathy for mature aged people
  • A desire to make a positive difference in someone's life
