Regional Openings Assistant

Open Gardens Victoria Inc

Open Gardens Victoria (OGV) is a not-for-profit organisation that opens private gardens to the public across Victoria, holds horticulturally themed events and raises money for charity. We are run by volunteers and are committed to fostering a love of gardens and gardening, helping people to appreciate the benefits gardens bring to health, the community and the environment. Since commencement in 2015 we have donated over $170k to valuable horticultural and community causes.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the Opening Assistants These roles are responsible for the collection of material primarily from regional storage hubs at the locations listed above and delivery of the material to garden openings. A volunteer is required for each of the hubs.

The primary elements of the role are to:

  1. Arrange for the distribution of OGV material required for openings within your regional area. This may include: • phones with matching Square card readers • directional corflute signs • OGV sandwich boards, • marquees, • OGV opening boxes

  2. Liaise with Selection personnel to ascertain: • which materials are needed for each opening, • the location from which material is to be collected beforehand • the location to which material should be returned This may be an upcoming garden location or a storage hub. Skills and Experience • an active interest in horticulture • good communication skills • a medium level of computer skills • a car to collect and deliver material to garden locations • physical ability to carry the materials • an interest in being part of a team
