School Homework Club Tutors
EdConnect Australia (VIC & NSW)EdConnect volunteers provide after school tutoring and mentoring support to students individually or in small groups, with a focus on English, Science, and Maths subjects and assisting students to complete homework and assignments.
Responsibilities • Tutoring students individually or in small groups to support development of literacy, numeracy and study skills and assisting students to complete homework and assignments; • Develop mutually cooperative and supportive relationships with both school staff and students that contribute towards improving confidence, self-esteem, resilience and acquisition of life skills for students; • Help the student to set goals and work toward accomplishing them; • Serve as a positive role model, guide, and supporter; • Be dependable and consistent in attending the weekly Program and advise the School Coordinator and EdConnect Liaison Officer when you are unwell and/or unable to continue in your role; • Respect the confidentiality of information shared by the students and staff; • Adhere to all program policies and guidelines.
Skills, qualifications and experience • Understanding and appreciation of diversity • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with children/young people • Proficiency in verbal and written English • Sound knowledge and understanding of secondary level literacy and numeracy • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team • Must be over 18 years of age • Must be eligible to live and work in Australia
