We currently have a volunteer opportunity for the following:

Visitor Economy Scoping Advisor

Mogo is a small town on the Southeast coast of NSW with many drawcards for tourists, including the Mogo Zoo, historic appeal and outdoor activities. In particular, there has been major investment in developing its mountain bike trails that is anticipated to opening up opportunities for tourism, but this is overlayed with challenges (building codes on infrastructure, lack of affordable housing, etc) To better understand and benefit from this development, the Business Chamber seek an analysis of the business opportunities available generally, and within its visitor economy specifically. This includes opportunities for local employment and micro businesses (eg, cleaning bikes), cultural tourism leveraged off outdoor adventure tourism, and events (eg, competitions).

How we do it?

We offer meaning opportunities from skilled business professionals to volunteer their expertise across communities in Australia and the Pacific. We work with communities to understand their needs and work with our Skilled Business Volunteers to match them to projects, that bring the right skills at the right time to help deliver outcomes.

Tasks: •Conduct desk-based research (including interviews) to establish an understanding local demographics, infrastructures, facilities, gaps etc and of tourism on the SE coast of NSW to feed into an analysis of economic implications, opportunities and gaps.

Skills Required: As this is envisioned to be a team assignment, the following are the sought-after make-up of the team: •A working understanding of regional economic development, visitor economy, boutique businesses, economics of natural/ environmental resources, town planning, heritage and similar •Project management/coordination •Economic research and analysis
