The Lost Dogs’ Home (LDH) cares for over 17,000 lost and abandoned dogs and cats every year and is one of Australia’s largest animal shelters.

Volunteers are valued members of the LDH organisation. The time, commitment, and dedication they offer to the day-to-day operation of LDH helps us change the lives of the thousands of animals that come into our care each year. Put simply – we couldn’t do it without them!

We have an opportunity for 6 new volunteers to join us in helping to transport cats to PETstock stores around Melbourne that have generously offered to help us with finding new homes for our animals.

The commitment is every fortnight and you can do the role solo, or if you're a retired couple it could be a fun activity to do together!

Our PETstock volunteers are confident in handling cats, have excellent customer service skills, enjoy spending time on the road, and thrive working autonomously with the support of a lovely team leader.

The shifts we have available are: Tuesday from 10am-2pm  Wednesday from 10am-2pm Thursday from 10am-2pm Friday from 10am-2pm

Key Responsibilities

• This role involves lifting and moving cats in carriers.
• Loading, transporting and delivering cats to PETstock stores in metropolitan Melbourne and Geelong.
• Providing PETstock employees with paperwork associated with the cats for adoption.

Required Skills, Experience & Attributes:

• Good social and communication skills
• Ability to follow direction.
• Full licence, with no infringements for the last 5 years.
• Be physically fit and are able to lift up to 12kg loads.
• Experience with mid-sized van would be beneficial.
• Wear appropriate safety and PPE equipment (provided by The Lost Dogs' Home) and follow safe lifting guidelines.
• Pass a National Police Check
