Want to develop your research & evaluation skills whilst helping sick kids? Starlight’s mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, young people and their families. Our volunteers are an important part of the Starlight team. They’re a wonderful community of positive, committed people who share Starlight’s values and love to help others. This role is targeted towards research students who wish to further develop their skills in a practical setting.

What will you be doing in this Research & Evaluation - Livewire in Hospital role? You will be:

  • Shadowing the Livewire Facilitators on their ward rounds to collect survey feedback from young people/teens.
  • Responsible for chatting to the young person about the survey, providing them with the iPad to fill it out, and then reflecting on this evaluation process.
  • Working with the Livewire team to work out which days are best to accompany them.
  • Required to check in with the R&E team after each recruitment day, and reflect on how you found the experience and provide suggestions to improve the data collection.

What skills do we look for?

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well under uncertainty
