** The program Red Cross has been responding to emergencies and providing humanitarian assistance in Australia since 1914. We are committed to strengthening and extending our emergency aid services to assist all Australians in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies.  Our work spreads far and wide, including supporting communities, groups and individuals to prepare for emergencies, as well as assisting with response and disaster recovery.  

As part of your local ES Community Engagement Team, you will have the opportunity to volunteer locally and flexibly.  You will be given opportunities to support your community at a local level, based on community need.  

The opportunity Community Engagement Volunteers support local needs, through a variety of activities.  As a subsidiary of the local Red Cross Branch, you will have the flexibility to choose how and when you volunteer your time.  Examples of this include training activities, team meetings, community events, administrational support, telephone services and response events as needed by the community.  

As we continue to build our local team, we are looking for Volunteers who are reliable, possess good interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. 

Further to this, you will have the following mindset and skills:

A passion to volunteer for a humanitarian organisation Ability to work effectively as part of a team Personal experience in managing stressful, emotional and/or adverse situations Understanding of, and respect for, privacy, confidentiality and appropriate boundaries Volunteers will need to join our Norfolk Island Red Cross branch. 

We will be holding an information session and further details for this will be supplied.
