City of Gosnells

Firefighters attend regular training on Monday nights (7pm) and must commit to 4 full days of training on commencement (run over weekends), prior to attending any emergencies. All equipment provided at no cost. Once trained, you'll be placed on a roster requiring you to be available to respond to any calls outside of normal work hours (or during work hours for day shift). This roster will see you "on-call" for 1 week in every 4 weeks (1 on, 3 off). During your "on-call" week, your shift will conduct a minimum of 3 hours activities which may include: training, planned burns or community engagement. The Brigade typically responds to approximately 100 calls per year, mostly during the bushfire season but may be year round. these calls range from small incidents locally through to supporting major emergencies throughout the state and occasionally interstate. Further training available as you progress through the ranks, including: First Aid, Advanced Firefighting techniques, driving under emergency conditions, off road driving, driving heavy vehicles and more. Come down to visit our Emergency Operations Centre at 16 Horley Road Beckenham for a tour and to meet some of the crew, who can provide better explanation of the benefits of joining us.
