Transport to Treatment Driver - Bunbury

Cancer Council WA recognises the difficulty patients living in regional areas may experience getting to medical treatment centres. We provide a Volunteer Transport Program to assist people to access specified treatment centres.

Volunteer drivers are integral to the provision of this service and drive Cancer Council vehicles to safely transport patients to and from medical appointments.

This is an ideal volunteer role for someone with the skills and motivation to provide supportive care to cancer patients, their families and carers.

One day per week or per fortnight, Monday to Friday between 8am -4pm.

Requirements

National Police Certificate

Requirements: • Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments • More than 5 year's driving experience; current 'C' class driver's license and good driving record • Complete the driving log and submit monthly activity data as required • Report any maintenance or repair of vehicle requirements to supervisor • To be mindful of the distress of a cancer diagnosis and use a sensitive approach • Ability to ‘think on feet’ and adapt schedule to accommodate client needs (such as appointment delays) as required. • Maintain regular contact with and provide feedback to supervisor • Attend a volunteer induction and any role-related training • Participate in an annual reflection and any relevant team meetings In line with Cancer Council WA policy, WA Government Health Directions and Public Health Orders, Cancer Council WA staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. As such, the successful candidate will be requested to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to commencing in this role.
