St John Ambulance NSW (St John NSW) is a well-recognised and trusted charitable organisation. We are a leading provider of First Aid Training and other products in Australia. We educate, equip and prepare people and organisations across the state to provide First Aid, Health, Wellness and Wellbeing compliance in workplaces. Our teams of Volunteer and Staff Members provide first aid services at events and public gatherings to ensure the safety and wellbeing of visitors and guests in their communities.

To support our Volunteer and Staff Members as they serve their customers and communities, we support them with our St John NSW Member Welfare Program. This program consists of our Peer Support and Youth Peer Support Groups, Chaplaincy and the Volunteer and Employee Assistance Program.

Our Peer Support team is a group of passionate and dedicated volunteers, who give of their time to help others by reaching out to our members in their time of need, listening with empathy, offering emotional support and referring to other options in the program as appropriate.

We are seeking a volunteer to be our Peer Support Lead (Lead) to continue to build our team and enhance the services that we offer our members. The Lead is responsible for the leadership of the team, and for the development of the Peer and Youth Peer Support Programs through training, coaching, and mentoring its leaders and members.

The Lead is responsible for the quality of service to improve and promote the St John NSW Member Welfare Program in line with our purpose and values. This includes collaboration with Chaplaincy and the Volunteer and Employee Assistance Program, and the coordination of Peer Support reporting to ensure that accurate and confidential information is correctly saved and stored.

This role is responsible for demonstrating values-based leadership and represents St John NSW as volunteer leader in the wider community. The Lead is required to establish and cultivate effective relationships with partner organisations, community leaders, and other key stakeholders / organisations as required.

About You:

• Demonstrated experience in a Well-being related role and leadership experience

• A successful track record of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

• Demonstrated skills and experience in leadership, coaching, and developing skills and capabilities of others.

• Experience in developing, planning, and implementing initiatives.

• Clear, respectful and confident communication and interpersonal skills that align with our values.

• Engaging and confident presentation and facilitation skills

• Demonstrated capability in the use of technology and applications required for efficient and effective communication.

• Capacity and willingness to perform Peer Support on evenings or weekends in support of our Volunteers and Staff Members on duty at events.

• Evidence of having two doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine or the vaccine requirements identified in the St John NSW COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
