Art from the Margins is seeking a volunteer Art Studio Assistant to assist in their gallery and art sessions each Friday between 10am till 3.30pm.

Art from the Margins (AFTM) is part of Wesley Arts which is a creative initiative of Wesley Mission Queensland. It has been instrumental in bringing artists together and bridging the gap between artists living in isolation and the wider community since 2008. AFTM supports and promotes the work of artists living with adversity, including artists living with mental health issues, physical or intellectual disabilities, or experiencing homelessness and social isolation.

As part of their role, volunteer Art Studio Assistants will assist by:

• Being enthusiastic about art and artists
• Setting up packing down, including tidying
• Being involved in parallel art-making with clients who need support
• Following the direction of the art facilitator
• Organising and participating in a shared lunch
• Being receptive to discussions about art and art-making with clients and group
• Making serving cups of tea and cold drinks.

AFTM is 5 minutes walking distance from Fortitude Valley Train station, and street parking is available.

All AFTM volunteers complete a security check and work within COVID-19 safe guidelines.
