Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club is based in the outer east of Melbourne, participating in the Eastern Football Netball League. We currently have men's and women's football programs across Junior, Senior, and Veterans competitions, along with two women's netball teams.

We are on the hunt for the last position on our board, Director of Finance, to help us manage our successful club. With new clubrooms being built in the next few years, this role will be an integral part of setting us up for success and providing us with the required guidance.

The main objectives of this role are:

  • To ensure that a financial management system and reporting system is put in place and operable so the Club Board has an accurate, true and correct understanding of the financial status of the Club at all times.
  • To provide support to the Board and Committee members to ensure the efficient operation of the Club.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Ensure the Club's financial accounts, systems, policies, and procedures are consistent with all statutory and taxation requirements and allow transparent reporting and accounting for all stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain effective processes to ensure the Club is compliant with all requirements and obligations of the Australian Taxation Office and State Revenue Office.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial requirements of Community Affairs Victoria regulations for incorporated associations.
  • Ensure effective management and compliance with the Club's responsibilities for Player Payments and Declarations in accordance with AFL Victoria and Eastern Football Netball League policies.
  • Ensure the Club's financial accounts are audited in accordance with the requirements of the Club's Constitution and Community Affairs Victoria. Develop and maintain effective and timely financial and business performance reporting for the Board and Committees.
  • Prepare the Annual Budget of the Club in consultation with the Board. Present the financial position and results of the Club at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate processes for the approval, recording, and payment of Club expenditures and revenues.
  • Ensure effective procedures are in place for cash handling and associated banking activities.
  • Ensure the appropriate investment of surplus funds and savings with the Club's banker.
  • Implement, review, and maintain effective authority limits for the approval of the Club's expenditure and other financial transactions where appropriate.
  • Undertake tasks at the request of the Chairman and assist other Board members in their responsibilities.
