Visitor Engagement Guide, Monarto Safari Park

Zoos SA (Royal Zoological Society of SA)
Logo for Zoos SA (Royal Zoological Society of SA)

Monarto Safari Park is the largest safari experience to exist outside of Africa, and is part of Zoos SA. It is a not-for-profit conservation charity that exists to connect people with nature and save species from extinction.

The upcoming long weekends and school holidays throughout April are a busy time of year at Monarto with large crowds visiting each day, so we are seeking additional volunteers to work within the existing team as Visitor Engagement Guides.

With an overall focus of visitor engagement, this position can be broken down into 3 major roles. You will be trained to do all of this, and could be rostered for any position on your chosen days depending on the needs of the organisation.

Role Summaries: • Zu Loop Guiding o Providing commentary for visitors on Zu Loop bus tours around the park o Tours are 80-90 minutes, and are the most popular way to view the animals o Your commentary will enhance the visitor experience o We’ll give you all of the animal and park information, you just need the ability to enthusiastically speak to a group of people! o You will work cooperatively with your bus driver during tours, and follow directions and requests from the Operations Desk who coordinate all buses and tours each day. • Welcome and Assist o Located in the Visitor Centre, you’ll meet and greet visitors upon arrival at the park o Helping visitors find their way, understand their options for their visit, and kick-start their day with a helpful and enthusiastic welcome • Platform Hosting o Similar to the welcome and assist role, only out in the park at the various bus stops and animal viewing platforms o Help visitors understand their options for movement around the park and animal viewing o Provide assistance where required to enhance visitor enjoyment

  • We will accept a Police Check, or a Working With Children Check.
  • Police Checks can be applied for, free of charge through Zoos SA once you've signed up to volunteer with us.

Note: This role is visitor-facing, with NO direct contact with animals. You will have the opportunity to view animals during your training and during your shifts, but the focus will be on assisting visitors.

We are seeking volunteers who are committed, curious, adaptable, positive, cheerful and passionate about our organisation and conservation efforts. If this sounds like you, we’d love to see your application!

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
