Time Commitment: 1 -2 days per week

For over 20 years, Mahboba’s Promise has been dedicated to providing a sustainable future to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan. The organisation has strong ties to communities both in Afghanistan and Australia and utilises these links to foster and develop relationships that protect and enhance the future of the Afghan people. Since its inception, Mahboba’s Promise has established schools, shelters, health clinics, supplied resources and built critical infrastructure across Afghanistan. The organisation has also provided sponsorships to widows and orphans in need helping those who need it most to secure a more equitable quality of life.

Job Summary:

Are you a skilled writer looking to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan? Join our team at Mahboba's Promise and help us provide a more equitable and sustainable future for those in need. We are seeking a dedicated and well-versed writer to join our team at Mahboba’s Promise as a Grants Coordinator. In this role, you will play a vital role in securing funding for our programs and initiatives, enabling us to deliver education, healthcare, and other services to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan and Australia. Taking on this role will require you to write coherent and compelling proposals by applying your knowledge and understanding of the needs and projects that are organized by Mahboba’s Promise. You are expected to work closely and collaboratively with the Operations Manager and develop interpersonal relationships with employees and volunteers to share and identify the financial goals and needs of the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

• Understand the financial needs and objectives of Mahboba’s Promise programs. 
• Identify potential funding opportunities and research relevant funding sources for programs. 
• Write and submit compelling, high-quality grant proposals to funding agencies while applying knowledge of fundraising methods and plans to reach goals. 
• Maintain proficient knowledge of our organisation’s history and programs to proactively manage funding requirements 
• Prepare and submit progress reports to relevant funding bodies as required. 
• Be aware of trends and best practices in grant writing and non-profit fundraising and bring relevant opportunities to the organisation.  

Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong analytical research and analytical skills. 
• Outstanding written and oral communication and networking skills. 
• Knowledge of the grant application processes (preferable). 
• Ability to effectively manage your time and prioritise tasks. 
• Ability to work effectively with a wide variety people. 
• A can-do attitude, with a flexible and adaptive approach to any situation. 
• Ability to learn new IT programs and quickly come up to speed. 
• An enthusiastic and positive nature that can work collaboratively in a team environment. 
• Bachelor's degree in Law (or working towards one). 
• An interest in international affairs and development, the NFP sector and/or Afghanistan and its development context.
