The role

The SEE Training Support Volunteer will provide in person support to our trainers and assessors who are responsible for facilitating the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program delivered face-to-face to Participants across our training sites in Cannington, Fremantle, and Rockingham. Some of the key activities you will be involved in include:

  • One-on-one support to help Participants with reading, writing and numeracy to reinforce teacher-led activities

  • Facilitating conversational groups

  • Supporting Participants in computer activities

  • Support the development of employability skills

When you join our volunteering team you play an integral role in helping us achieve our mission. Becoming a SEE Training Support Volunteer is not only beneficial to Status and our Participants, but you can also benefit from mentoring, developing your skills and gaining experience in adult education.

The SEE Training Support Volunteer Program All successful applicants will participate in our Volunteer Training Induction Program which covers various topics including:

  • Adult learning principles

  • Strategies for working with Participants where English is an additional language

  • Strategies for teaching basic spelling and grammar

  • Using collaborative, hands-on materials

We are keen to hear from volunteers who have experience in training delivery or who are working towards their Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116). Experience in adult literacy and/or teaching adults English as an additional language is desirable, but not essential. To be successful for the voluntary position you will have:

  • Some understanding of the issues facing Participants who are seeking employment

  • Some exposure working with variety of people from the community with disabilities and non-English speakers

  • An ability to organise work schedules and prioritise work responsibilities

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office, Outlook and using the internet
