Mobile library volunteers for people experiencing homelessness

Prahran - One morning per week on a Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. You will need your own car and be willing to pick up books from our storage unit in Kensington, take them to Chapel Street in Prahran, unpack the books onto shelves and spend an hour chatting and suggesting books to people experiencing homelessness. This role can be fortnightly and you can go to storage once monthly.

Queen Victoria Market - Thursday evenings 6-8pm - one shift per month You will need your own car and be willing to pick up books from our storage unit in Kensington and take them to Franklin Street next to the Queen Victoria Market. You will meet a small team of volunteers and set up and run a book stall, offering free books and warm conversation to people experiencing homelessness, the book stall runs for around 1 hour.

Werribee Hospital - Tuesdays 1pm - 2.30pm You will need your own car and be willing to occasionally collect books to take to the hospital. Your role will be to take the books into the mental health unit of the hospital, along with another volunteer, you will also be paired with a hospital staff member. You will chat with the patients in the communal areas and suggest books they could read, moving around several wards in the hospital.
