Help a primary student settle into high school

EdConnect Australia (VIC & NSW)
Logo for EdConnect Australia (VIC & NSW)

At EdConnect Australia we are training and mobilising an army of volunteers, to provide life changing mentoring for students who are at risk of not fulfilling their potential.

the Transition Mentor program will assist students as they progress through key education transitions from primary to secondary or middle year level to senior level. The program will commence in July 2023 and end in June 2024. We ask mentors to commit for the entire program duration (until the end of term 2 2024), to enable students to receive the benefits of a Mentor during this critical educational transition time.

Mentors and mentees meet for one hour each week at school. Mentors engage with the students in fun activities that are based on the interests of the student and mentor. Mentors provide encouragement and support that will help a student during this challenging time. Mentors are also supported by a school staff member and EdConnect.

Our volunteers come from many walks of life and age groups. You may be retired or semi retired and looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, a tertiary student wanting to gain experience with young people or perhaps your organisation gives you time to volunteer. We are seeking people with a genuine desire to help students, who are patient, non-judgmental and someone who is a good listener.

Many of our current volunteers find this program personally rewarding as they help students thrive. The impact volunteers can make on a young person’s life goes well beyond their school years. This is an opportunity to not only help, shape, and support young people and schools, it may even enrich a volunteer's life as well.

We’ve recruited and trained thousands of volunteers who have helped many more thousands of young people throughout Australia.

Every year, our volunteers provide life-changing – potentially life-saving – support for more than 12,000 young people. We’re talking about academic, emotional and everyday support that provides both a safety net and a springboard for students who might otherwise struggle.

If you are looking to make a difference in a young person’s life, apply now.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
