Australian Red Cross

  • Bindaring Clothing Sale Saturday 20th May 2023 (Claremont Showground)
  • Volunteer activities will be at the Claremont Showground, 2 weeks prior to the sale and on sale day.
  • Do as many hours as you want, no minimum commitment

The program

The Bindaring Clothing Sale is held annually in May at Claremont Showground. Organised by volunteers, the funds raised support the work of Red Cross in WA.

The event was started by a group of women 60 years ago and since 1963 it has offered everyone an opportunity to update their wardrobe with style at bargain basement prices. Bindaring's reputation for providing excellent quality new and nearly new clothing, shoes, bags and accessories attract thousands of shoppers each year, from fashionistas looking for that designer gem, to those on a tight budget wanting to clothe their families.

The opportunity

We are looking for volunteers to assist with sorting clothing donations prior to the sale, setting up the fencing, clothes racks and tables; folding and hanging all of the stock in preparation for sale day, and operating cash registers and assisting on sale day. Training will be provided. Being able to lift approx. 10kgs is desirable, however, there are volunteer roles that require no heavy lifting. Volunteers will be managed by the Bindaring group. Volunteers under 15 years of age will be required to have parental consent.

The impact

Bindaring is equally proud to be leaders in the local community with an environmental commitment to reuse, recycle, and upcycle clothing and accessories.   Every year we work hard to ensure very little, if any, of the 8 tonnes of donations we receive ends up in landfill.  A positive result for our environment whilst giving a new lease of life to great clothing.
