Events and Fundraising Each year significant funds are raised through Fundraising Events to support vital services for Tasmanians living with low or no vision disability and illness.

Event and Fundraising Volunteers are our brand ambassadors, representing Guide Dogs Tasmania to raise awareness of our services and much needed funds for the organisation. Some examples of Events may include signature events, pop up shops, public speaking and presenting at community groups and schools and ambassador dog handling.

The Community Fundraising and Events Volunteer roles are split into 3 different areas • Events and Fundraising Volunteer • Ambassador Dog Handler Volunteer • Community Group Talks and Presentations Volunteer

Key Responsibilities

Events Volunteer • Ability to assist with setup/pack up at events • Accurately record sales of merchandise, donations and donor details • Good technical skills for eftpos machine operations and experienced cash handling

Ambassador Dog Handler Volunteer • Volunteers be willing to undertake a dog handling skills training session and attend ongoing monthly training sessions

Community Group Talks and Presentations Volunteer • Be confident talking to small and large groups with ages ranging from children to adults • Ambassador Dog handling skills beneficial but not mandatory if talks attended with another Ambassador Dog handler

All Volunteers Responsibilities • A passion for volunteering & commitment to our cause • Good communication & interpersonal skills • Reliability - willingness to devote a set amount of time regularly and be punctual • To be an ambassador and advocate for EverAbility, actively promoting the organisation in the community • Ensure that all contacts with consumers, donors, general public and staff are carried out in a professional, courteous manner • Be familiar with and adhere to Occupational, Health and Safety requirements. • Police Clearance dated within the last six months and current Working with Vulnerable Person’s Check (WWVP) for a volunteer role that involves schools as part of the ambassador dog program (If the candidate does not possess one or both, they can be applied for by EverAbility during the volunteer application process) • Safely drive an EverAbility Group vehicle to event location if using vehicle • Valid “C” class drivers licence if using vehicle • Be willing to undertake driver training at EverAbility’s request if using vehicle

Guide Dogs Tasmania will provide:

  1. Training
  2. Ongoing Support
  3. Insurance cover by EverAbility Group Limited Volunteer Insurance policy and/or by the Motor Accidents Insurance Board Tasmania for the cost of claims for death or injury caused by the negligence of the driver of a registered EverAbility Group Limited Vehicle
