Young Diggers Limited

Young Diggers Ltd is an ESO charity/NFP that support Veterans and First Responder who have PTSD and are at risk, and their families. YD support Veterans with Assistance Dogs, run obedience and assistance dog training in 3 states currently and and in conjunction with the assistance of third parties, provide welfare to our members.

Participants pay $0 to join and and are supported by us and other agencies with ongoing case management as required with the objective to support participants to live independently and with dignity. YD is funded 100% by donations. Participants arrive via DVA, Veteran Rehabilitation services, and personal referrals.

The Young Diggers Ltd Admin Assistant handles participant applications, and a wide range of correspondence within and externally to the organisation. Banking, mail and fundraising support are part of the role, attending some Veteran related events are possible, and promoting the brand as part of the YD family.

Developing appropriate relationships with participants, trainers and dogs is part of the role. Our participants in the Dog Squad Program are primarily suffering with PTSD/Anxiety/Depression, so a calm and patient attitude is required, with the ability to be flexible and adaptive as situations and circumstance dictate unexpected changes and challenges within the role.

The role involves working with the General Manager, and can involve researching projects, programs, government legislations, travel and accomodation bookings, and dog related tasks such as vet appointments, puppy interaction, dog training and magazine articles. Having good organisational skills, and a people person are highly valued.

In the role, an orientation toward military/ first responders and dogs is desirable. There are opportunities to gain industry skills and YD will support training initiatives in the field of Community Services, Mental Health and Dog Training. YD is currently involved with upgrading internal systems and website so an inclination towards process , IT and admin procedures will be highly regarded. Barista skills also most welcome.

This may be a good role for someone wanting to get back into the workforce by giving back to the community.
